Here's the list of shows that didn't make the cut during the Autumn 2011 season. Not all of these are simulcasts - there are a few Anime Network shows as well - but this way gets a mention to all the shows that I started but didn't stick with for long enough to write a proper review for. Read on below the cut for the details...

Majikoi Oh! Samurai Girls
Dropped at episode 1 - see the First Thoughts writeup for more.

At least Shiina's worth looking atTactical meeting

Chihayafuru
Dropped at episode 2. Never ceases to amaze me what Japan can turn into a "sports" anime, and I simply couldn't buy the way they presented karata as a competitive sport - which drowned out whatever other merit the series may have had. Yes, I realise this is one of the most well-regarded shows of the season. No, I'm not going to be picking it back up.

Un-Go
Dropped at episode 1 - see the First Thoughts writeup for more.

RieShinjurou

Sekaiichi Hatsukoi S2
Didn't even start this one - the first season of Sekaiichi Hatsukoi got off to a decent start, but as it went along it lost its focus on the good stuff - the manga production side - and slid into just being a generic BL tale. I've got no problem with BL when there's a decent story wrapped around it, but I've got no interest in BL purely for BL's sake - and so I didn't bother here.

You and Me
Dropped at episode 3. "Cute girls doing cute things" sometimes has a hard time impressing me (review of the first season of Hidamari Sketch coming soon, and I won't be bothering with the subsequent seasons), so "cute boys doing cute things" is even more on a hiding to nowhere. Doean't help that most of the boys have pretty much zero personality. And yet it's managed to secure a second season (that I won't be watching).

Everything sucksKaori-sensei

Persona 4
Dropped at episode 4. This was a busy season, and with the show not really grabbing me (possibly because I've never played the game) and Teddy annoying me immensely, this one was dropped for lack of time. Haven't completely ruled out finishing it off if I get the chance, but probably not any time soon.

Scene of the crimeJust hanging about?

Digimon Xros Wars
Another show of the season that I didn't start. Firmly in the "shows aimed at kids" category that I have no interest in (unless it's a magical girl show...).

Phi Brain: Puzzle of God
Dropped at episode 1 - see the First Thoughts writeup for more.

gdgd Fairies
The third show in the "didn't watch" category - this was a late addition to Crunchyroll's slate, they started mid-season with episode 6 and didn't add the earlier episodes until a week or two later, which put me off to start with. Visual style also didn't appeal, which left me with no real incentive to try and catch up with it.

Himawari
Dropped at episode 4. Cute but clueless trainee ninja and her adventures at ninja school. Ninja Nonsense (3x3 = Shinobuden) did this earlier, and did it better - by pushing the wackiness off the scale. Himawari doesn't do anything outstandingly well, it's just "there", which gave me no good reason to stick with it.

Kobato
Dropped at episode 6. CLAMP show, with magical-girl'ish undertones as Kobato tries to bring happiness to those around her. Clueless lead, annoyingly gruff / unlikeable male lead, and no real feeling that it was going anywhere. More generally, CLAMP peaked for me with Cardcaptor Sakura, and everything I've seen of theirs since then has disappointed - their shows since just don't have the same magic, the same appeal, the same ability to grab the interest, and Kobato just continues the slide. Getting to the point now where I almost dread each new CLAMP series.
