On the surface it seems as if Atsushi is an adult, but really he's just an primary school student. However, his his sister is a second-year high school student Atsumi, whose height is just about what Atsushi's should be. Atsushi is worried about his upcoming recorder test. However, after he tries to show off to his classmate, he might have greater troubles...

AtsushiAtsumi

Based on a 4-koma manga, Recorder and Randsell is one of those shows with a premise that sounds decidedly iffy. Atsushi's apparent age but naturally childish behaviour makes his the obvious target of "look! A pervert!" misunderstandings - which the series can't resist rolling out in the first dang episode - while Atsumi's reverse problem makes for a grown-up (just about) in the body of a loli. Hmmm.

The gags are fairly predictable, too, and not just the one already referred to. A grown man playing a recorder! Isn't that strange!? A grown man wearing a randosel! Isn't that strange!? And Atsumi's high-school friend sees Atsushi, presumably without known who he is or how old he really is, and can't help but swoon over him.

THE GOOD: Having a hard time identifying anything that really stands out as a good point, to be honest.

THE BAD: Predictable gags from an iffy idea.

Meh. Even putting doubts about the idea to one side, Recorder to Randsell just didn't grab me -I didn't laugh, chuckle or even smile at its gags, and for a comedy that a fairly major flaw. It's not outright bad, but I don't think there's enough here for me to want to continue with it, either...
