It's been a while now since I raved about Phantom the Animation, the 3-episode OVA series based on the less-engaging Phantom of Inferno visual novel. The OVA was left at a point that could easily be continued from, but there's been no word of any follow-on - until now. The January issue of Newtype contains news of Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~, a TV series to be co-produced by game designers Nitroplus and well-known anime studio Bee Train. Perhaps worringly, BLASSREITER writer Gen Urobuchi is slated to handle the writing for this series, but with Kouichi Mashimo (Noir, .hack//SIGN) onboard as director we know it'll at least look good. Let's just say that I'm looking forward to this more in dread than expectation...
