Be afraid, be very afraid. The live-action rights to Full Metal Panic! have been picked up by Mandalay Pictures, who have confirmed that the title is currently in development - fair enough so far, you say, as FMP!'s a fairly good action / comedy title that would work well as a live-action movie. Unfortunately, though, High School Musical heart-throb Zac Efron has been linked with the role of military otaku and bodyguard Sagara Sousuke - Efron is reported to be trying to promote himself as more of an action-adventure star, is considered as likely to appeal to the title's target audience. What, FMP! is targetted at teenage girls!? News to me. Personally, I think this is one idea that has FAIL written all over it. That said, it's early days yet...
