Shameless Promotion
Thursday, 06 March 2008
Vexille

If you like your CG-animated spectaculars, you'll love this - Vexille, an all-action film from the makers of Appleseed that will shortly be getting a UK theatrical release. The film focusses on the attempts of a crack US team known as Sword, sent to infiltrate Japan - a nation completely isolated from the world for ten years - for proof that the country has been involved in illegal cyborg research & production. Some shades of Ghost in the Shell there, maybe? The movie hits cinemas on May 9th, but in the meantime...

Check out the trailer.

Mnemosyne Online Promo
Upcoming Shows
Monday, 03 March 2008

MnemosyneEvery so often, the Japanese try something a little different with how shows are aired - if you go back a few years, Figure 17 had an unusual pattern of monthly one-hour episodes. Now, Xebec's Mnemosyne is similarly well-spaced, with 6 monthly episodes. It's billed as a "graphically explicit, hard-boiled science fiction action" series - sounds intriguing, and if that gets you curious there's a new online promo now available from the show's website. There's also an earlier promo, and the show's opening and closing sequences. Knock yourself out.

Slayers Goes Fourth
Upcoming Shows
Thursday, 28 February 2008

SlayersIt's the day for reviving old classics, it seems. The Slayers TV series is long gone (but not forgotten - far too good for that), and the indications after the release of Slayers Premium was that that was all, folks, as far as animated versions of the franchise was concerned. It looks like there's been an about-face, though, with an announcement in the April edition of Dragon Magazine confirming that a 4th season is in the works. No word yet on the official title, cast or story - at this stage they're not even confirming if Lina Inverse will feature (although it would hardly be Slayers if she didn't) - but there's the promise of more information in future issues of Dragon. Bring it on.
