Okay, so that's maybe overstating it. I've already chosen my favourite show of the new season, even though I've still at least 15 new series yet to check out - and the winner is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Follow Haruhi. You know you want to.

I don't think it's overstating it to say this is the best high-school comedy I've seen in a very long time. It seems I'm not the only one to think so, either - the phrase "worldwide Haruhigasm" passed across my screen the other day and probably describes fandom's reaction to the show quite well.

But for all that the show is great fun to watch, it's outdone by its own ending sequence, which is the most mesmerising piece of animation I've ever seen. There's just something about the little dance Haruhi, Mikuru, Yuki and the others perform that just begs to be watched again and again, and won't leave my head no matter how much I'd like it to. Don't believe me? Try it yourself (AVI, 14.7MB, requires Windows Media 9). Just don't blame me for loss of sanity...
