BLASSREITERAnother week, another episode of BLASSREITER that makes very little sense. But then, I'm getting used to that now. Gerd's back, and he's bad, but still some people just can't accept that the good-guy racer is gone. He's not the only one losing his identity, either...

Igor used to be Gerd's number 2 on the racing team - now that Gerd's gone, he's got his chance to make a name for himself and step out of the shadows. But while riding home one night, Igor finds Gerd tailing him - and his old team-mate doesn't seem to have a friendly reunion on his mind. Confirmation that Gerd's still alive gives Hermann the spur he needs to try and prove his old friend isn't the monster everyone else now thinks he is, but he's fighting a one-man battle. Joseph, meanwhile, has escaped from his XAT pursuers but is left seriously injured. When he recovers consciousness, he finds himself hidden away and in the care of Amanda's brother, Malek; while Jil's transformation continues, giving the medics a chance to closely study the birth of a new Amalgam...

Well, on the good side there's a really good piece of background music used while Gerd and Igor face off, but past that there's still just a lot of "things" happening, but nothing to positively tie them together. There's a general feeling that the connections are there, but nothing being done to make them yet - and given how far we are into the series already, that's getting beyond frustrating. There are also some decent action sequences, with the gore level ramped up a little more than in the previous episodes, but it's almost as though they're being used to fob off the audience into waiting another week for explanations that may or may not come.

Both Hermann and Malek continue to believe in Gerd's "hero" status, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Trust is all very well, but when the man you idolise has clearly become a killer, there's a point where you need to stop - but that doesn't happen here. Why? Why is Gerd so over-the-top in his hatred for Jil, when Joseph is able to control his Amalgam side? Who is the person that our mysterious woman refers to? Who knows. If anything, the number of unanswered questions is rising with each episode, instead of anything being resolved.

To be honest, my patience with this series is just about gone - it's only the fact that one episode a week isn't a huge timesink & that my to-watch pile isn't very large that's keeping me from ditching it. For now, this is still a series with very lttle about it that's worth recommending.
