ADV FilmsA while back I took a swipe at Manga UK for cancelling a number of releases mid-series and instead closing out the shows with box sets - leaving folks who had purchased the individual discs with no option but to double-dip. Now, ADV UK have done the same thing, with the remaining volumes of Kurau Phantom Memory and Red Garden having been tossed on the scrapheap in favour of complete collections. The Kurau box will be out on 28 July, with Red Garden following on 25 August.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, but this sort of tactic, while making some sort of short-term sense, will only hurt ADV in the long run - is anyone really going to waste their money on their individual releases now, knowing that the company may not see them to completion? I certainly would think twice...
