Here we go again. If there's one thing that BLASSREITER managed to get right, it's the part of the story that deals with Joseph's past - and since this episode includes a little bit of that story, it has a little bit more appeal than most of the show's "story" so far. Not that that will save it...
Joseph continues to slay one Demoniac after another, but his berserker-style rage gives Wolf a chance to escape from the mayhem, after which Hermann gives chase. Amanda follows suit, but along the way she meets a girl named Snow. Years ago, Snow became an Amalgam after being exposed to Josephs blood. For a while after that she traveled with him, during which time they became emotionally close. Amanda learns of Hermanns destination from Snow, before leaving her to deal both with the raging Joseph and with Wolf, who has taken refuge in the ruins of XAT's headquarters...
Snow was inadvertently infected with the Amalgam nanomachines by Joseph - it took her a long time to come to terms with what those nano-machines turned her into, and in that time she and Joseph developed a strong relationship. Until Joseph up and left her without warning. That was many years ago, but now it falls to Snow to play on Joseph's memories of their past together to bring him down from his berserker high. That aspect of the story takes up maybe 5-10 minutes of the episode, and for that time it's a perfectly reasonable story - BLASSREITER at its best, even if that can hardly be described as dizzying heights.
The rest of the episode is the usual mindless action-fest, though, which wore out its appeal long ago - I don't mind action scenes when there seems to be a point to them, but in BLASSREITER it just feels like a way to pad out the episode - there are one or two small surprises thrown in here, but nothing to make you feel any way involved in what's going on.
More of the same, then. In know there are some people who are actually enjoying BLASSREITER, but for me and most people I've spoken to the show's incoherence made sure it lost all its appeal quite some time ago. This episode has some good points, but nowhere near enough to outweigh the bad.
