All in one place, the announcements from this weekend's Anime Boston
panels. There are a few titles here that weren't mentioned in the
original posts, thanks to more details leaking out over time...
In alphabetical order...
Confirmed New Licenses
Blue Gender: The Warrior - Funimation, late 2004 release.
Digi Charat ~Nyo~ - Bandai.
Digi Charat TV - SynchPoint.
Dokkoida - Geneon, August release.
I'll/CKBC - Media Blasters.
Kodomo no Omocha - Funimation, 2005 release.
Onegai Twins - Bandai.
Paranoia Agent - Geneon, October release.
Princess Tutu - ADV Films. Seems this doesn't include the specials.
RahXephon: The Motion Picture - ADV Films.
Stellvia - Geneon, September release.
Rumoured New Licenses
Giant Robo - Media Blasters. See original post here for details.
PitaTen - from AnimeNation
- "Broccoli representative Saki Yamashita confirmed that the Broccoli
produced anime TV series Pita-Ten has been licensed for American
release, but not by Synch-Point." No indication on who has it...
Super GALS! - episodes 27-52, ADV Films. David Williams at Anime
Boston issued one of his "cannot confirm or deny" statements, but
apparently at FIT-CON, ADV rep Matt Greenfield confirmed they had them
(Source: AoD Forums). I'd treat this with a lot of scepticism, though.
"Lost" Licenses
Sailor Moon Movies - Geneon. Licenses expire by the end of the year & cannot be renewed (issues with the licensor).
Sailor Moon S & SuperS TV - Geneon. Same issues as the movies, although dates for when these licenses expire weren't given.
Tales of Eternia - Media Blasters. According to a news post at AnimeNation,
"The original Japanese licensor no longer has production materials
available for the Tales of Eternia anime TV series, so reluctantly had
to cancel Media Blaster's domestic distribution agreement for the
series."
Varom One - Media Blasters. Contractual wrangles.
And that's the lot. Some good, some bad, but not a bad list for this
early in the con season. Hope there was something there you were
looking for. :) |
