Megami Deluxe - Volume 2Time for what's best described as a "Best of Megami" collection, with the best posters from recent issues reprinted for your further enjoyment. Nosebleed value = high...

2 things to note about Megami Deluxe: first, there are no articles, so lack of Japanese is not a problem. Second, the posters are reprinted in a smaller format than in the magazine proper (most being single or double-page images - no fold-outs), so it's not as suitable as a source for pictures to mount on the wall. Minor issues if all you want to do is stare at the pretty pictures, though.

#2 comes in 5 bite-sized & fanservice-filled sections. For reference I've listed all the posters I can identify, but there are more than are on the list - it's just that my knowledge of anime shows isn't completely encyclopaedic!

Shot 1: Swimsuits
Onegai Twins (Karen & Miina)
DC ~Da Capo~ (Kotori & Nemu)
Onegai Teacher (Ichigo & Mizuho)
Ai Yori Aoshi (Aoi)
Narue no Sekai (Narue)
Green Green (group picture)
Happy Lesson Advance
GadGuard
Galaxy Angel (Milfuelle; Milfuelle & Mint)
KimiNozo (group picture)
Kiddy Grade (Lumiere v2)
Nurse Witch Komugi-chan
Divergence Eve (group picture)
Sister Princess RePure (Sakuya)
Wandaba Style (Kiku #8)
Tenshi no Shippo Chu! x2
Raimuiro Senkitan (group picture)
Someday's Dreamers (Yumi)
Mahurabo (group picture)
Popotan (group picture)
DN Angel (Riku & Risa)
Matantei Loki Ragnarok

The largest section of the mook and my personal favourite. In particular, the Onegai Twins and DN Angel pictures are just begging to be scanned for my PC desktop.. ^^; Other than that, there's a good selection here, from the sweet & innocent (the afore-mentioned DN Angel, among others) to the almost downright dirty (Divergence Eve & its gravity-defying mammaries and almost non-existent swimwear).

Shot 2: Cosplay
DC ~Da Capo~ x2 (group picture & 1 other)
Narue no Sekai (Narue)
Chobits (Chii, Sumomo & Kotoko)
Onegai Teacher x2 (Ichigo; Koishi, Mizuho & Ichigo)
ROD ~the TV~ (group picture)
KimiNozo
Evangelion (Rei & Asuka)
Shingetsutan Tsukihime (Arcueid)
Kiddy Grade (Santa Eclaire & Lumiere)
Happy Lesson Advance (mama group picture)
Ai Yori Aoshi (policewoman Aoi)

The tamest section of the mook, mostly featuring sailor fuku & waitress uniforms, and pretty quickly flicked through and forgotten. Contains the weakest pictures here, in the Happy Lesson Advance and Ai Yori Aoshi pictures, which really don't do their characters justice.

Shot 3: Lingerie
Raimuiro Senkitan x3
Gravion (Luna & Riru)
Divergence Eve (Kotoko & Misaki)
Nurse Witch Komugi-chan
YamiBou
Green Green (group picture)
Onegai Teacher (Mizuho)

Starts off in danger of becoming a Raimuiro Senkitan section before remembering that there are other characters out there. Good stuff, apart from the YamiBou and Green Green pictures - YamiBou because it's damn near impossible to figure out what's going on in it - it's very graphically jumbled - and Green Green's just doesn't look right. YMMV.

Shot 4: Onsen
Onegai Teacher (Mizuho & family)
Raimuiro Senkitan (Momen)
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu! (Kaname & Tessa)
Mahoromatic ~Something More Beautiful~ (group picture)
Gravion (Riru)
Popotan (group picture)

Your opportunity to catch your favourite characters naked. What more needs to be said? Personal favourite here would be the FMP? Fumoffu! picture, but it's a "best of a good bunch" kind of thing.

Shot 5: Onegai Twins Special
12 assorted OT images - a real treat for fans of the show. And even if you're not, can you honestly say that Karen & Miina aren't kawaii?

Overall, then, well worth buying, particularly if you don't have the individual issues the pictures were lifted from. Probably less point in getting Deluxe if you do have the issues, though, as you're just paying more money for smaller reprints of what you'd already have. For me, most of these images come from before I discovered that Megami goodness, so I can't receommend it highly enough...

Managed to get hold of a copy of the hard-to-find Deluxe #1 - look for a review of it soon...
