In a world where your worth is determined by how often you can use
magic, how do you cope if you can only use it 8 times in your lifetime?
Such is the premise of Maburaho... And with the amount of girls
& senseless violence on show, added to a promise-made-when-young
scene at the beginning of the first episode, I'm already having
flashbacks to Love Hina. Onwards...
Cute girls, big breast & fanservice. I'm hoping there's a bit
more here than just that... Seems that while our hero Kazuki doesn't
have much magical ability himself, there's some frightening potential
in his genes - so cue the horde of desparate women eager to jump his
bones, in the hope of having a magically-supercharged child.
In other words: harem anime, with magic, and all the usual
stereotypes (samurai girl, sweet pink-haired girl, 'ooohh! ho! ho!'
blonde girl...) and not much in the way of original or redeeming
features. It's not that the show's bad per se, it's just not
different enough from a lot of recent shows to make it stand out - and
given the number of shows I'm already trying to follow at the moment,
it gets added to the 'pass' file. Some fun aspects, just not enough to
make it worthwhile. |
