What happens when the leader of a school's Student Council
also happens to own it? You get a council with more powers than
the teachers, and the ability to get up to all sorts of trouble with no
come-back. The Gokujou Seitokai of Miyagami High School is just such a student council, and Rino Randou is their newest member...
1 - Dear Mr Poppit
Rino Randou is transferring to Miyagami High School - her penfriend 'Mr
Poppit' has handled all the transfer papers for her &
arranged for somewhere for her to stay. Allegedly. Rino
arrives to find the apartment she was meant to be staying in has just
burnt down, leaving her homeless before she starts - the elusive Mr
Poppit can't help, as he's just a penfriend and has no 'phone number.
As a last resort, she heads for the school hoping they can help out,
but manages to get herself lost. Come her first day, and she's
already making enemies - most notably classmate and Student Council
member Kaori Izumu. For all that, she somehow manages to earn a
seat on the Council by the end of her first day...
2 - Outpouring Youth
Cyndi's in trouble for trashing the Student Council car, but that
doesn't seem to be anything unusual. Rino's getting the guided
tour of her new dorm, which is top-spec all the way - one of the perks
of being on the Student Council. Surprisingly well kept,
considering the landlady looks about 8. While Rino carries on
finding her way around the school - and getting stick from other
students - Kaori can help but protest at her being made a member of the
Council so quickly. She's not the only one, either...
This looks to be another one of those shows with a cast so large
it's impossible to keep track, as all the Stuent Council & their
various arms get a regular look-in. Quite why they need a Covert
Ops team and an Intelligence arm is escaping me, too. Of the
large group that's been introduced so far, I'm thinking Kaori - who
Rino is always inadvertently spoiling the plans of - is the best.
Rino works okay as a characters for things to work around, but her
spineless nature & that damn puppet could drive me nuts after a
while.
As high-school comedies go, it's nothing particularly special, but
Gokujou Seitokai does have enough fun moments to keep me interested, at
least for now. Worth checking out.
