There were two fanservice shows that hit Japanese TV screens recently, DearS and Girls Bravo. I mentioned back when I did my first write-ups on them that I'd probably only stick with one of them. Now that I've seen some more of both shows, I can safely say - DearS isn't it...

3 - Coins! Coins!
As if having to deal with Ren isn't enough hassle for Takeya, his school's DearS transfer student, Miu, has arrived - complete with ojousama laugh. ^^; Her homestay hosts don't seem overly keen on having her help out around their house, which is a bit offputting for her. Meanwhile, Ren's getting a little too much cleaning done - leaving most of Takeya's belongings on the ground outside his apartment. There's also the matter of 'appropriate clothing', and of Nia, a young DearS in a catgirl outfit...

4 - Wipe Your Mouth
It's Miu's first day at school - or at least. it's meant to be. Instead, it's Ren who's getting the first-day treatment from Takeya's unbearable teacher (although she's hugely popular with the students), and there's some confusion when Miu finally turns up - wasn't the school only meant to get one DearS stransfer student? Time for a contest to find out which one can stay...

I had a few more episodes after these that I could have watched, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. This is mean to be a comedy at heart, but I just wasn't laughing - Miu's ojousama routine just got on my nerves, the humour around Ren's lack of knowledge of life on Earth just didn't click, and there was nothing else that really managed to get my interest up to the point where I wanted to continue - and that wasn't from lack of effort.

If I have to sum it up, then I think that DearS almost tries too hard - it's got most of the things you'd expect from a good harem show, but just fails to make anything good out of it. Pass.
