The Dark King's beginning to get desperate - although not so much that his lackeys are giving Pretty Cure
too much of a hard time. Yet. After picking on the school
ojousama, Kiriya joins the girls for a days hard labour on a farm, a
begins to learn a little about what it means to be human. Anyone
want to place bets on a "Kiriya x Honoka" storyline sometime soon..?
16 - Stress Release! Being the Madonna is Tough
The failure of Poisonee and the other Dark Zone meanies is beginning to
be a problem - the very existence of the Dark Zone is threatened if
they can't snatch at least some of the Prism Stones from Nagisa and
Honoka. But what to do about it? While the baddies are
worrying, Nagisa and Honoka are enjoying a quiet spell at school, where
school 'madonna' Yuka Odajima is beginning to get a little jealous of
what she sees as their carefree life. The daughter of rich
parents & talented at just about everything, Yuka's beginning to
feel the pressure of expectations - which makes her just the sort of
person Poisonee can make use of, in her own unique & twisted way...
17 - Catch my Heart! Working on a Farm is Exciting
Honoka seems to be playing the matchmaker - Fujimura-kun invited her
along to his grandfather's farm for the day, so knowing what Nagisa
thinks of him she's invited her to join them for the day - not quite a
date, but as near as she's going to get for the moment. Kiriya's
also tagging along, giving the Dark Zone an opportunity to try and do
some harvesting of their own - of Prism Stones, if he gets his
way. But while Nagisa's working on her path to true love, Kiriya
learns a little about what it is to be human...
Episode 16 is pretty much standard Pretty Cure fare, with
Yuka filling the role of victim-of-the-week - I strongly suspect she
that now that Poisonee's had her way with her she won't be seen again,
at least not for a while. Other than the revelation that the Dark
Zone's continued existence is doubt, there's not much there left
reporting.
Episode 17 is a little different, though - while the matchmaking seems
initially to be concentrating on Nagisa and Fujimura, Honoka's attitude
towards Kiriya and his response to it makes me think they're setting
him up for a 'bad-guy with a conscience' role - think of Sailor Moon's
Nephrite, and you'll get the idea. Of course, I could be proven
wrong, but that's a storyline I'd actually like to see.
Away from the distraction of story, everything is as you'd expect -
Zakenna easily dispatched and Mipple and Mepple as annoying as ever,
although they don't get as much screentime here as usual. Which
is a good thing.
Still reading? Then I probably don't need to tell you that Pretty
Cure continues to be a fun little show. Now, how about Max Heart...
