Love Pheromone is part of Akahori Gedou Hour, along with Soreyuke! Gedou Otometai
- the two stories take part in the same world and link at various
stages, but can pretty much be treated as separate series. Both
mahou shoujo, LovePhero introduce two guardians of Justice that strike
fear in the hearts of everyone they meet...
1 - Openly Forgiving, Love Pheromone!
There's an underwear thief on the loose - just the sort of criminal the
girl of Love Pheromone (a pair of powered-suit-wearing vigilantes),
Ayumi Yoshizumi and Kaoruko Sashima, love to teach a lesson to.
When they're not cleaning up the streets, they're a stand-up comedy act
- except without the comedy. No matter what their manager tells
them, they're just not funny. The 'allies of justice' routine is
supposed to be a promotional move to help their comedy act, but the
only thing people seem to do when they see them coming is run for their
lives...
I'll give Love Pheromone one thing - it takes the
prize for the most bizarre robo-launch scene
ever. How no-one seems able to link the re-arrangement of half
the city to our two justice-loving gals, I'll never know. Sad
thing is, that's about all I can say about the show - there's also some
nice fanservice, but overall the story has about the same level of
appeal as
UG*Ultimate Girls, which for me makes it a "pass".
One thing worth noting about Akahori Gedou Hour, though - the "good" girls are really evil, and the "evil" girls are really too nice for their own good (see the review of Soreyuke! Gedou Otometai when it appears for more on that). It's an interesting idea, but the execution is lacking a bit...
