DNAngel - Volume 4 (Cover Art)Would Daisuke and Riku please hurry up and realise they're in love with each other!?  <cough>  Sorry.  Frustration got the better of me there.  ^^;  This volume of DNAngel introduces two more girls for Daisuke to deal with, at least one of which has serious plans for him, but while he's busy dealing with his feelings for Risa, Riku has developing feelings of her own to deal with...

13 - Eternal Guide
Another late-night mission for Daisuke and Dark brings them to an abandoned mansion in search of the Eternal Guide, a statuette of a bird.  They're not here to steal it this time around - just to check it's still where it should be before a warning letter is sent & they steal it later.  Talk about making work for yourself - although since the owner of the Eternal Guide seems to have decided to just let Dark have it, it's all good.  Risa and Saehara aren't about to miss an opportunity to catch Dark in action, though, and head to the mansion for the time stated on the warning - just in time to trigger a trap set for Dark that sees their souls sealed away by Krad, along with Dark's.  Can Daisuke use the Eternal Guide (aka a hyper cutie called Towa, who fortunately doesn't look anything like her age of 98) to save his friends..?

14 - New Rival
There are two new girls in town - for a start, Towa's moved in with Daisuke, giving him another ally in his night-time job, while it's also American transfer student Mio Hio's first day at school - and she's taken an immediate liking to Daisuke.  She also pretty quick to pick up on the little love triangle between Riku, Daisuke and Risa - but it seems she also has some scheming up her sleeves when she tries to place a magical pendant around Daisuke's neck.  Later, Daisuke realises his love for Risa is wasted when she gives her first kiss to Dark...

15 - Barbeque Panic
Dark's thieving continues apace, but Towa notices that for Daisuke it's almost like he's working overtime to take his mind off something.  Risa, perhaps?  At any rate, his mom decides that maybe cooking him something special will help.  Mio also seems determined to help cheer him up, although as usual it's for her own reasons.  Risa and Riku, meanwhile, are taking advantage of the summer break and heading to their holiday home, but Risa's continued obsession with Dark is beginning to get on Riku's nerves.  Their trip is interrupted when their car breaks down - conveniently, just outside Daisuke's home.  Can he survive the day with Risa, Riku and Mio around him..?

16 - I Found Her...
Riku finds a box of old keepsakes - her 'treasure box' - in her closet, although she has a hard time remembering why an old teddy-bear fit into the category of 'treasure'.  For Daisuke, the summer break just means more thefts to carry out - this time at the Clover mansion, a nearby haunted house.  When Riku hears about the planned theft on TV, she remembers a connection between her bear and the mansion and the memories come flooding back.  Could it be that Daisuke was the boy who got her bear back from the mansion for her?  Risa, meanwhile, heads for the Clover mansion in the middle of a storm in the hope of seeing Dark again, but on this occasion Dark's far from pleased to see her...

Episode 14 is almost purely a fanserice ep - yay!  The reactions from the kids to Hiwatari's CPR on Daisuke are classic comedy.  The ep also serves to introduce Mio, who really just annoys me, but it does look like she'll force the issue between Daisuke and Riku.  That can only be a good thing.  I've been spoiled to the news that that issue will come to a head on the next volume, which is leaving me hugely impatient for it to get here...

On a similarly fanservice-y note, the quality of the character designs seems to have gone up noticeably since the last volume - Risa and Riku have looked decidedly hot in several places here.  I could get used to that.  Dark's 'breakup' with Risa was harsh, as was the reasoning behind it.  There's lots of messing with people's feelings here, as Riku finally admits to herself that she's in love with Daisuke.

Towa's a fun little character, although I'm not sure she has much of a part to play now that her introductory episode is out of the way - she obviously has some powers of her own, but as yet they're not being put to use in Dark's work, which is a bit of a shame.

Overall, another good collection of episodes, although I'll admit I'm more gagging away in the background, waiting for Daisuke and Riku to sort themselves out.  They're just too cute a couple to pass up.  The next volume can't arrive quickly enough.
