Beware of the pink-haired one, she bites. Yes, it's more (deep breath) Jungle wa Itsuma Hale Nochi Guu Final.
Just as poor Hale gets used to city life and meets a girl he could
really get to like, Weda changes her mind again and hauls him back to
the jungle. For normal kids, it's the sort of life that would
drive them nuts - but Hale's already got Guu to do that for him...
3 - School Heaven
It's Hale's first day at his new school, and he's doing his best to
look the part - I wonder why that might be? Guu's usual
have-no-mercy attitude isn't helping, and neither is having Robert play
undercover bodyguard in the class. Hale's day gets a whole lot
better when the cute girl he met turns out to be in his class - her
name's Rita, and she seems a friendly soul. Hale's in love, but
Guu's determined to destroy his hopes of a normal school life...
4 - School Hell
Even though Hale now knows about Rita's dark side, he's still
smitten. Ain't he sweet. Not everyone in class is so nice
to him, though, as the class bullies have decided he'd make a
good target - and Guu's no help, as she's on their side (it's a
learning experience for him, honest). Seems no-one appreciates him
being so friendly with Rita, so cue the cold-shoulder treatment...
5 - Friend
The class bullies are leaving Hale alone now, thanks to Rita's
intervention, but she's ended up in the doghouse herself. At
least class is peaceful - until Weda appears as his substitute teacher
(complete with really obvious wig), with Asio in tow (as Amanda, 14
years old, fond of cooking). Seems she's wanting to find out who
his new friends are so she can thrown him a party - a farewell
party. Seems they're heading back to the jungle...
6 - A Drunkard Who Came Back
Back to the jungle, and a warm welcome from Mari at least - Weda had
phoned ahead to have her fiends meet her at the airport, but Mari was
the only one to bother turning up. The rest of the village was
too busy arranging a surprise party for them. Great fun for all -
until Mari finds out about Rita, and Hale suddenly has to dig himself
out of a hole. It's enough to make a kid want to go back to the
city...
Just as I was beginning to get to like the city side of the story, they
go and move everything back to the jungle again. Make up your
minds, dammmit!! Hale and Rita's scenes together are just so
sweet you have to love them, and surprisingly some of Guu's best
moments are hear as well, as she tries her best to make Hale lose his
cool at every opportunity. Good stuff.
Back to the jungle, and Weda starts to steal the show a bit, spending
an entire story in her underwear. The things you can do in an OVA
that you can't do on TV, I suppose - but this ep is really just a
reintroduction to the jungle mob, without much else of note.
Hale & Guu comedy never really seems to get tired,
even if you watch the show in batches - it's so off the wall &
unexpected most of the time that you just don't get the opportunity to
get bored. More please!
