After a few episodes where Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu Final
almost seemed to be developing a storyline, this batch of episodes
returns to its trademark randomness. This is not a bad thing,
even if Hale x Rita was oh so cute. There's just something about
the jungle that seems to make Guu want to cause trouble...
7 - The Revelation of the Chest Hair
Toposte's worst nightmare has come true - he's started to grow chest
hair, and if it turns out anything like his grandfather Chourou's he's
going to be cursed with an embarrassing excess of the stuff in the not
too distant future. He turns to Hale and Guu, which turns out to
be a bad idea for Hale, as Guu pulls hims into Chourou's memories to
find out where all that chest hair came from...
8 - Drip Drip Lavenna
A day in the life of Lavenna - her mother's sent her to the city to run
some errands, but try as she may she can't seem to get anywhere without
being interrupted - between Yumi-sensei's problems, Hale trying to
round up escapees from Guu's stomach, or Adi and Chet.. er.. communing
with each other in the forest, finishing her errands are proving easier
said than done...
9 - RPG Test Version
A hand reaches out of Guu's mouth and pulls baby Ame back in.
Three words: Hale's in trouble, especially as Guu can't just throw him
back up again - someone in there is keeping him captive, and the only
way to get him back is to head into Guu's stomach and find him.
For some strange reason, life inside Guu this time around is
suspiciously like an RPG game. And so AmeQuest III begins...
10 - RPG Pirate Version
The quest to save Ame isn't going too well - Hale's already needed
resurrected twice, and his questing party are worse than
hopeless. And it's certainly no use asking Guu for help.
But eventually the Black King's castle is reached, and the Otaku, Host,
Courtesan and Bunny-girl must do battle - or they would have to, except
a Guu bug has just left Hale stranded in a dating sim. Then a
racing game. Then Nanaca Crash...
These episodes definitely mark a return to the sort of episodes that
made the original TV series so much fun to watch - they're just
completely OTT and out there, which is something that was lacking
throughout Guu Deluxe and for the early part of this
series. Sure, Hale and Rita made for a good story, but story was
never what I wanted to watch the show for - I wanted to wanted to see
Guu try to make Hale's life hell, and have a good laugh at Hale's
reaction to that. That's definitely what you're getting here.
One more batch of episodes will bring up then end of this series - and if the title's honest, the final installment of Hale+Guu (just to slip the US name in there!). Here's hoping they stick to what the series is good at...
