Another season, and another deluge of dating-sims-turned-anime shows hits the airwaves. Canvas 2 ~Niji-iro no Sketch~ (the original Canvas
anime was an OVA series) follows trainee art teacher Hiroki Kamikura
and the girls he teaches - with a little side interest from another
member of the school staff. With originality being a lost cause
in harem / dating series, it all comes down to presentation, so how
does Canvas 2 manage..?

Kiddy Grade reaches its finale, and the
underlying theme is all about the Nouvlesse, who are about to
experience a dramatic fall from power. The universe of future is
far from a democracy, and Alv has taken it upon herself to do something
about it - although the devil is in the details, and her tactics leave
a lot to be desired. Who do you need to take down an
ES-Member? Lots of other ES-Members...

I'm noticing a trend for ridiculously long episode titles in
this series. You'll see what I mean in a moment. These
episodes of He is My Master add a certain shoujo-ai
element to proceedings, which gets two big thumbs up from me, while
otherwise carrying on the comedy in a style that'll be familiar to fans
of Mahoromatic. Not surprising, when the two series are made by
the same people, but isn't there always a danger that a lack of
originality could spoil things? ... Nah. :)

Tenchi Muyo in Love, the first Tenchi
movie, is a strange beast - not least because Tenchi doesn't fall in
love. He's far more worried about being erased from existence to
be concerned about such things. You'll also want to leave your
nitpickers hat at home, as this story involves time travel, and all the
gaping plotholes that go along with it...

First time I watched Kiddy Grade, this stage of
the story left me thoroughly confused. This time around, I've
been paying attention and whaddya know, it's making a lot more
sense. I'd put a few thoughts in my review of volume 5 about what
I though was going on with GOTT - and after watching this volume, I get
the warm and fuzzy feeling of knowing I was right. Go me. :)

There's something not quite right when the final episode of a series calling itself Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu Final
(really need to emphasise that last "final") ends on a cliffhanger, and
with a "See you next time!" caption. The meaning of "final" can't
be so hard to grasp, can it?! Anyway, on that note it's time for
my final review of Hale+Guu. Do I get bonus marks for the poetry?
