London ExpoThe October 2009 edition of London Expo has just ended, and as usual there's some news to tell - although all told it did seem to be a quieter event than usual.

On the licensing front, MVM are dipping into the Geneon well again and have announced both seasons of Rozen Maiden (for release in March 2010), TYPE-MOON series Fate/Stay night (January), Shakespeare-inspired Romeo x Juliet (February) and live-action movie Geisha vs Ninjas (April). You have to admit, that sounds intriguing. On the ongoing series front, Slayers Revolution and Slayers Evolution-R will also appear in early 2010, while Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, Pet Shop of Horrors and Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful have all been licensed by are as yet undated. They're also looking at Blu-ray releases of certain shows that were produced in HD (which implies no upscales!).

Meanwhile Manga confirmed that they'll be releasing Naruto Shippuden - the first releases will arrive in May 2010, in time for Naruto's 10th anniversary. The also confirmed the cancellation of their Evangelion 1.01 release - but fear not, that's simply as they'll be releasing the Evangelion 1.11 extended edition instead. It's due for release on 29 March 2010, on both DVD and Blu-ray. Shinkai masterpiece 5cm per Second and Shirow movie Sky Crawlers will also be getting the dual-format treatment, while Sherlock Hound, D.Gray-man and Soul Eater are all due to street during the first half of 2010, along with a number of boxed sets for series that have already been released.

Not to be outdone, Beez confirmed the second seasons of both Code Geass and Gundam 00, while they're looking at the introduction of an Anime Legends line which, it's hoped, will see the rerelease of some shows they already released in the UK, along with other shows that have yet to appear here. If you're listening, Beez, Banner of the Stars!!
