Japanese ad company Dentsu has sold anime producer Geneon to Universal Pictures Japan, ending a 5-year-long rocky relationship with the formerly Pioneer-owned company. No word yet on what Universal may have in store for the company.

They're not getting out of the anime business, though. Dentsu is now looking for partners to co-produce new titles, and has supplemented the office it opened in Los Angeles earlier in the year with a new division aimed at finding partners in the South-East Asia region. Upcoming shows MapleStory and Deltora Quest already fall under the new division, with the hope that more will follow.
