This will probably fall into the "big deal..." category, but Japanese media group Broccoli have decided to wind up their US operations, which include manga publisher Broccoli Books and the Norwegian Blue of anime companies, Synch-Point (most famous for releasing FLCL to the unsuspecting masses). Anyone holding out for I'm Gonna Be An Angel to make it past volume 2 can give up now.
The reason for the shutdown seems to translate as "we couldn't be bothered" - ANN reports that:
"...competition in the subsidiary's fields of business increased sharply in recent years, which resulted in a drop in revenue and profits. Since Broccoli projected that changing the subsidiary's prospects would be too difficult, it decided to close the subsidiary."
Gone, then, and probably soon to be forgotten.
