Belzei and the other emissaryies of darkness finally develop a braincell between them, and go for the source of the girls' power: Porun. That's not all they've figured out, either, and soon Pretty Cure become a distraction to their main purpose: overthrowing the Dark King himself...
46 - Oh No! The Power of the Stones is Stolen!
Belzei's had enough of being tied to someone else's fate, and has decided that it's time he and his allies cut themselves loose - and of course, he has a plan. The Guardian may claim to be the only one capable of drawing out the power of the Stones, but Belzei has been paying attention to recent events and has figured out that Porun is really who they're after - and that spells immeditate trouble for Nagisa and Honoka, as Belzei and co step up their efforts to seize the Stones' power for themselves...
47 - The Strongest Warrior Makes His Debut! Man, I Can't Believe This!
Belzei has activated the power of the Stones - which at least makes the mansion easy to spot from a distance, so off the girls go to get the Stones back. Inzide, Belzei, Juna and Regine attempt to draw forth enough power to save themselves from the effects of the Dark King's dominion - and they've taken steps to make sure the girls won't be able to interrupt them. Both the Queen of Light and the Dark King soon become aware of their efforts, though, and neither of them are prepared to stand by and let them call forth the power to create all things for themselves...
Finally we get into the real meat of the story - and Nagisa and Honoka become almost an irrelevance. With Rainbow Storm, they're slightly ahead of Belzei & co in terms of power - with the power of the Stones gone, and Rainbow Storm with it, they're really no match and have to just sit back while the conflict between the emissaries and the Dark King begins. Sucks to be powerless.
Strangely, the Queen - she who clearly isn't powerless - has so far chosen to just sit this one out. After a worthy speech about how she'll prevent things from "getting out of balance" even at the cost of her own life, she soon changes tack and decides to sit back and wait to see how Pretty Cure get on before intervening herself. Royal Prerogative at work there, I guess.
Interestingly, Pretty Cure and the emissaries are now looking for more or less the same thing: freedom from their obligations. Nagisa doesn't want to fight any more; Belzei doesn't want to be holden to the Dark King anymore. That's a very human motivation that does make you feel a little sympathy for them, and I can see the ending of this arc being one of those conclusions where evil may be defeated, but the evildoer is overcome by good and has a road-to-Damascus coversion to the good side, just like Kiriya - who conveniently returns to save the girls just at the end of this pair of episodes. How's that for good timing?
How this is going to play out for the remaining to eps will be good to see. The girls are they are clearly can't compete. and I don't thing Kiriya's up to the required level of power, either, so there's a lot that needs to be resolved quite quickly. Now where did I put those episodes... |
