Fairy MusketeersThose who fight and run away, live to fight another day - and there's far too much fighting to be done in the world of technology at the moment, so the Musketeers decide that a tactical trip to the world of magic is called for. And Souta's coming with them. The only problem with this idea, though, is that nobody's asked Ringo...

Red and Snow White have been trying to find out what Briar Rose is doing in Erde - she's meant to be guarding the King of Phandavale, so something major must have happened for her to cross between the worlds. She's just been too busy sleeping to tell them. Meanwhile, it's the summer holidays, school's out, and Ringo's making all sorts of plans for what she and Souta are going to do with their free time. First up: cooking up her super-special stew - and guess who gets to go shopping for ingredients. But Van and the others have decided that it would be safer to protect Souta if he went to Phandavale instead - and Ringo can't come with them...

See, Ringo's quite possible my favourite character in this series – she's so direct in some ways and yet uncertain in others that she's just completely lovable. Which means that the prospect of her getting left behind here isn't exactly an appealing one – and that's just the way that Ringo sees it, herself. Souta is her friend, as far as she's concerned he can't manage without her, and for those reasons (and probably one other that she's not quite ready to admit out loud yet) she doesn't want him to go.

On one level Souta realises all this, of course – he's not entirely daft – but the way he goes about trying to protect her feelings only ends up hurting her all the more. The boy has a soft spot for her, but when it comes to doing things the right way he's just a little bit clueless. Of course, sneaking off without telling her does leave an opportunity for the bad guys to get their hands on her while the gang's separated, so maybe he's just got one eye on the plot...

We always knew that Ringo had a 'special interest' in Souta, but this episode gives her feelings their first real airing – even though it's more through what she does than what she says – and ends up making me like her all the more. Another good reason why the rest of the gang shouldn't even think of leaving her behind. In short, another thoroughly enjoyable episode.
