The Koihime+Muso girls are back for a third season of fairly pointless antics (face it, no-one watches this for the story...). What mischief can Aisha, Rin Rin and co get up to this time..?
After their victory in the battle against the Yellow Scarves, the volunteer army, now led by Ryuubi, returns to peaceful Touka Village. Things seem to have calmed down, but Ryuubi is secretly worried: after all these easy days, her thighs and stomach are getting fat. That means it's diet time. Starting tomorrow. Maybe. But while it's one thing to put on weight, what's she going to do when she finds out that the other girls think she's pregnant!? Meanwhile, Kashin has a problem: after upsetting her new master, she's been fed a potion that's slowly turning her into a cat. While her new nekomimi look adorable, she really doesn't want to lead the feline life, and so turns to the gang for help in sourcing an antidote...
Right, this will be a short one, for the simple reason that if you've seen the two prequel Koihime+Muso seasons, you'll know exactly what you're getting here - the series has a formula, and sticks to it from one season to the next. Enjoyed the antics of the gang in their previous outings? You'll enjoy them here. Found them to be a shallow, pointless exercise? Guess what. It hasn't changed.
Well, almost hasn't changed. If there's one this this series seems to be always capable of, it's pulling even more characters out of its bag of tricks - last season the OP showed over 50, this time I didn't even bother counting, but the most noticeable new additions this time around are a tribe of amazoness catgirls. Don't ask. The "story", such that it is, sees the gang first have to complete a trek to gather the various components of Kashin's antidote; and then team up to deal with the threat of Ukitsu and his magical book, the Crucial Keys to the Way of Peace, for once and for all. There's travelling, eating, slapstick humour, gratuitous nudity and yuri, and all the other things we've come to expect from the Koihime+Muso brigade.
And that's really about it. It was hard enough writing a decent amount about the first instalment of the series, as there was so little of substance in it; after three seasons, I could really have done it in one line. So here it is:
If you've seen and liked the previous seasons, you'll get a kick out of this. Otherwise, don't bother.
