After being healed by Keisei, Makina goes on her way, with a parting suggestion to Keisei that maybe it's time he explained things to Ouri. Keisei makes a start by revealing Makina's three sizes, but Ouri's really looking for more than that - specifically, why Makina and Keisei are fighting against the Shikabane. It's simple, really: death in itself is part of life, and by refusing to move onto the next phase, the Shikabane are having an effect on the world (and on themselves) that they shouldn't be having. Their job is to deal with that - but it's their job, not Ouri's, and as far as Keisei is concerned, Ouri should stay out of it. But you know Ouri's not going to just leave it at that. Meanwhile, there's a mysterious car doing the rounds in town - it appears, with keys in the ignition but but no apparent owner, just waiting for passers-by to make use of it - passers-by who will never be seen again...
